Katy Perry is trying her hand at a new trend on TikTok that has a personal connection to the singer.
On Wednesday (February 11), Perry gave the viral "Wide Awake" TikTok trend her stamp of approval by sharing a video of her own. She joins many other fans who have attempted the challenge, a trend where users add their own harmonies to float around Perry's voice as she carries the melody on the track, featured on her 2012 album Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection.
In the video, Perry used a water bottle as a microphone as she provided harmony on the bridge, belting along with her younger self as she sang, "Thunder rumbling/ Castles crumbling/ I am tryin' to hold on/ God knows that I tried/ Seeing the bright side/ But I'm not blind anymore."
"Wide Awake" details how Perry is able to see things clearly after the heartbreaking end of a relationship. Now, in 2026, she has found love again with her new boyfriend Justin Trudeau. She sparked a romance with the former Canadian prime minister following her split from ex-fiancé Orlando Bloom in 2025 and their romance has reportedly blossomed into "something real." She even featured him on her "holidaze" photo roundup earlier this year.
