There were several bombshells and never-before-heard information dropped in Netflix's new documentary Britney vs Spears. The streaming service announced last week that they'd be releasing the controversial doc about Britney Spears, promising “a thorough portrait of the pop star’s trajectory from girl next door to woman trapped by fame and family and her own legal status,” and the "reveal of confidential documents, texts, a voicemail and new interviews with key players", and they certainly delivered.
Filmmaker Erin Lee Carr and journalist Jenny Eliscu worked for over two years to compile all the information and records that viewers get to experience in Britney vs Spears. The film features petitions, letters, medical information, detailed text messages allegedly sent by Spears and much more. It also consists of rare interviews from Britney's former confidantes Sam Lutfi, Adnan Ghalib and Felicia Culotta.
One of the many bombshells that was revealed in the doc is that Eliscu, the film's executive producer, tried to help Britney secure a new attorney back in 2009, just one year into her conservatorship. Another take away moment was Sam Lutfi denying having ever drugged Britney, although both of the star's parents blame the former manager.
One of the more head scratching moments of the doc was a medical report given to Carr by an unidentified source, which dated March 5, 2008, that stated:
“Britney Jean Spears lacks the capacity to retain and direct counsel. Britney Spears lacks the capacity to understand or manage her financial affairs without being subject to undue influence.”
However, Eliscu pointed out:
“At the same time this report was being written, Britney was already back to work. She was on the set of How I Met Your Mother. The episode was out within two months of the conservatorship starting. How is someone who was that ill well enough to go to work?”
