Kelly Clarkson Soars Through Her Cover Of Natalie Imbruglia's 'Torn'

Emotions were high when Kelly Clarkson performed a cover of "Torn" by Natalie Imbruglia, but the American Idol OG sailed through the rendition like a pro.

On the Wednesday (October 21) episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, the superstar brought the 1997 anthem to life for the latest “Kellyoke” segment. "Torn" was originally written in 1993 by Scott Cutler, Anne Preven and Phil Thornalley. The song was recorded in Danish by singer Lis Sørensen. However, Imbruglia went on to record her own version a few years later, alongside Thornalley, and it featured on her debut studio album Left of the Middle.

Clarkson might have felt touched with the lyrics of the heartbreaking anthem as she's currently going through her divorce from husband Brandon Blackstock. Since filing in June, the star has been open about the hardships that have come with the process. "The thing that's been kind of hard to navigate is I am an open book, but at some point I'm a mama bear more than I am a person in the public eye. So I care 100 percent more about my children than I do anything else on this planet," she recently admitted in reference to her daughter River Rose, 6, and son Remington Alexander, 4, who are receiving therapy amid the process. Clarkson and Blackstock wed in October 2013.
